I love this recipe! You did such a great job by God's grace! I have made this a few times and it is delicious if you can keep it from falling! Strengthen your muscles kneading that bread! "She shall gird herself with strength, And strengthen her arms." ~Proverbs 31:17. God bless!
ReplyDeleteIt still tastes good even when it falls...
DeleteI guess that it is a good lesson for us that God can bring good out of our problems, and He heals our falls!
DeleteSOME MORE NOTES: This recipe makes a good three loaves, so if you want to fill your oven a little more, you can do a double batch or more. The flour to water ratio depends on the flour that you use, so if you feel like you dough is too sticky, add more flour, and if the dough doesn't "melt" down if you kneed it into a pile, your dough is likely too dry and stiff. Also, freshly milled flour acts differently than older flour, so you will need to keep this in mind. I prefer using fresh flour since it has the most nutrition and you can store whole grain a lot easier! From my experience, it takes approximately seven cups of spelt grain to make 13 cups of flour which is normally what I end up using.
ReplyDeleteMaking bread can be a great bonding experience and entertainment for people of all ages, but please do not let your children eat the any of the dough uncooked. The yeast in highly toxic raw, and I know of a few small children who had allergic reactions to eating raw flour that contained gluten. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just a warning to keep in mind. Be your families "bread-winner" and keep them all healthy and strong with good nutritious homemade bread!
